Carved during Season 2025 in Gustavus, Siteeyi Gheeyi/Glacier Bay, Alaska by Tlingit artist Fred Fulmer — Elder and Cultural Bearer of the Hoonah Tlingit Tribe. Finished and refined at the artist's studio.

In June 2025, a Humpback whale was struck by a ship's propeller near the south entrance of Glacier Bay — our Ancestral homeland. The injury sliced behind the dorsal fin but mercifully spared the spinal cord. As a Hoonah Tlingit artist, Fred felt called to be a Voice for the Humpback, carving this mask to bring awareness to injuries that happen all too often in Southeast Alaska waters.

This is a rare piece of cultural activism expressed through traditional Tlingit carving — alder wood finished with barnacle shells gathered from Glacier Bay itself.
