The Spirit of Siteeyi Gheeyi/Glacier Bay Mask (Kaasteen) tells the story of the Chookaneidee Clan's deep and sacred connection to Glacier Bay — the homeland from which the Hoonah Tlingits were displaced and to which they have returned as Cultural Bearers. This mask was begun and sand-carved aboard the Celebrity Solstice cruise ship while passing through Siteeyi Gheeyi/Glacier Bay, and completed by Fred Fulmer, Xuna/Hoonah Tlingit Elder and Cultural Bearer, in his studio. Carved from Old Growth Red Cedar with Abalone shell inlay and Cedar Bark Hair. This mask comes ready to hang.
