The alder wood for this mask was gathered on-site during the 2024 season in Gustavus/Glacier Bay. Its natural spalting creates a striking visual texture that is entirely unique to this piece. Operculum shells are inlaid in the mouth area to resemble teeth — a traditional Tlingit technique that brings the mask to life. A refined, eye-catching work that commands attention in any space.
