The Tlingit Brown Bear Mauling Mask represents those who survive Brown Bear attacks in Alaska — a powerful symbol of resilience and coexistence with the wilderness. Carved from Broad Leaf Willow gifted from Glacier Bay — wood with natural deformities that inspired the design — making this a truly one-of-a-kind piece where the land itself shaped the art. Begun during active Season 2 (2025) in Gustavus, Siteeyi Gheeyi/Glacier Bay, Alaska, while serving as Tlingit Cultural Interpreter for ANV Alaska Native Voices Educational Institute aboard Holland America and ACL expedition vessels, and finished and refined at the artist's studio by Fred Fulmer, Xuna/Hoonah Tlingit Elder and Cultural Bearer. This mask comes ready to hang.
