For three consecutive seasons — 2024, 2025, and 2026 — Fred Fulmer, Xuna/Hoonah Tlingit Elder and Cultural Bearer, has returned to Siteeyi Gheeyi/Glacier Bay aboard Holland America and ACL expedition vessels as a Tlingit Cultural Interpreter for ANV Alaska Native Voices Educational Institute. Each season, he carries his tools aboard and carves — continuing a living tradition that connects the Hoonah Tlingit people to the homeland from which they were displaced and to which they return.

Voice for the Humpback Mask In June 2025, a Humpback whale was struck by a ship's propeller near the south entrance of Glacier Bay. Fred Fulmer felt called to be a Voice for the Humpback — carving this mask in alder wood, finished with barnacle shells gathered from Glacier Bay itself.
