This is the 7th Tlingit formline drum I have designed and painted this winter. My 2nd Killerwhale design. The 1st one is of an older Tlingit style Killerwhale. Both are nicely done and have a painted border. Adding a painted border is something that appeals to me as an artist.The Killerwhale or in the Tlingit language KEET sre all up and down the coast. Thje Tribal people use the Keet as one of their Clan symbols.

I'm from the Chookaneidee Clan, Iceberg House of Glacier bay. My current ties to Hoonah are through my mom Frances Austin. I started learning to carve in the 1990s from my Clan Uncle Ray Nielsen. My journey as an artist focuses on Tlingit style art.
