I worked up in Glacier Bay Alaska this year and while I was there a Humpback was hit around 6/24/25 in the waters in the south entrance. A ships propellar hit the humpback causing injury to the back, slicing through right behind the Dorsal fin. The injury luckily jdidn't sever the spinal cord. Humpbacks get injured frequently enough. Some of these injuries cause death. It's sad that this happens in southeast Alaska. I as an artist and a member of the Hoonah Tlingit Tribe and this Humback was injured in our Ancestral homeland. Hoonah Tlingit village site Glacier Bay.
I decided that I want to be a "Voice" for the Humpback. The way I'm doing that is as a artist I am carving this mask to bring awareness to incidences that happen all too often.
This mask is 97% complete.......I'll add photos of when it's all complete as well. The price listed will be an estimate and will be adjusted.
