Tlingit man mask is a Tlingit style carved mask. I wanted to carve a mask that is more simplier. Some times simplier is not always easier. It is like what will be seen in the museums 100 years from now representing the Tlingit masks. It's not in the category of a Profile mask, but still adds to our Tlingit cultural legacy. As an artist, I enjoy the process.

I'm from the Chookaneidee Clan, Iceberg House of Glacier bay. My current ties to Hoonah are through my mom Frances Austin. I started learning to carve in the 1990s from my Clan Uncle Ray Nielsen. My journey as an artist focuses on Tlingit style art.
