Fred's Inspiration:
I was thinking about the Beauty and Rawness of  Glacier bay in the winter, and thought of the icy cold winds and icebergs, snow falling and moon lit winter nights.

The idea to create a moon mask sprang from these moments of reflection. I wanted to carve a mask that would capture the beauty that my Ancestors knew.

So I carved the moon mask, added some fine lines representing the wind and wave action. added some white horse hair representing the frosty winter winds blowing out of the moons mouth. Used dark blue to represent the midnight skies and glacier blue for the color of the glaciers. I mounted the moon onto the corona of the moon.  The operculum on top represent the snow falling, next is the wind blowing, there are 3 carved unpainted stars in the sky, and 2 icebergs floating in the bay are represented by the faces carved and painted at the bottom of the corona.

When I look at this mask I think about the Icy cold wintery nights and the Glacier Bay Winter Moon  looking down into the bay and smiles at the Icebergs.
